DENVER -- An 18-year-old woman was in serious condition Sunday morning after she was shot outside a Thornton apartment complex Friday night.

Desare Mari Medina was shot in her back after an SUV drove by in the parking lot of the Lambertson Apartments in the 10000 block of Washington Street around 10:15 p.m. Witnesses said someone in the passenger side of the vehicle pulled out a gun and fired several shots into the crowd.

Medina was the only person shot. She was taken to Denver Health Medical Center.

Police said the shooting may have been gang-related.
