BUENA VISTA, Colo. -- A 54-year-old Greenwood Village doctor has died on a hike on Mount Hope in Chaffee County. Sheriff Tim Walker said the body of Peter Spratt was found near the summit on Wednesday morning by Chaffee County Search and Rescue. He was reported missing Tuesday by two friends who had turned back 300 yards from the summit because of rain and lightning. Walker said Spratt had fallen but may have been hit by lightning first. He was found on the southeast side of the 13,933-foot peak.
His body was airlifted off the mountain and flown to Buena Vista where it was turned over to the county coroner for an autopsy.
