DA Won't Charge Mayor Over Strip Club Activities
Special Prosecutor Still Investigating

FEDERAL HEIGHTS, Colo. -- Adams County prosecutors won't file charges against Federal Heights Mayor Dale Sparks for working as a doorman at a strip club where allegations of prostitution sparked a police raid. Adams County Chief Deputy District Attorney Tom Quammen said the evidence didn't support filing charges. But a special prosecutor hired by the city, Boulder attorney Joe DeRaismes, hasn't ruled out charges of violating the city's municipal code.
Sparks worked three nights a week at the Bare Essence Gentleman's Club for about a year. He quit after police raided the club in April and took a leave of absence as mayor for three weeks. Police had accused Sparks of turning a blind eye to illegal activities inside the club and to once telling a club manager that an undercover officer was in the club. Sparks denied the accusation.
