Ralston Creek Fire 80 Percent Contained

The Ralston Creek fire that has been burning since Friday is 80 percent contained, firefighters said Sunday.The fire broke out Friday afternoon and continued to burn the White Ranch open space area northwest of Golden. It burned more than 30 acres by Saturday night.More than 80 firefighters were on scene Sunday and they hope to have the fire fully contained by Sunday night.
Firefighters were faced with extremely steep terrain and winds in the area where the fire burned. The fire increased in size Saturday. No homes were threatened, but the White Ranch Park was closed to all recreational use.
