Bear Spotted In Lakewood Neighborhood
Baby Black Bear Snuck Away Before Game Officials Could Capture It
LAKEWOOD, Colo. -- A bear spotted in Lakewood Wednesday morning was able to escape before being caught by police and or by state game officials.
Several game officials and police officers converged on a park near Florida and Kipling after three people reported seeing the young black bear.
After an extensive search, the bear couldn't be found. Officials from the state department of wildlife figured that the animal quietly snuck away.
"I think the bear was more scared than anything and was just trying to get away from us as best as possible," Lakewood police officer Chad Engelmann said.
The bear reportedly wandered through an apartment complex and onto a bike trail.
