Longmont Confronts Gang Violence
Community Meeting Planned Tonight

LONGMONT, Colo. -- Longmont officials planned a community meeting on gang violence Thursday night after a brutal killing linked to a gang.On Saturday a teenager was killed by a group wielding bats and a large samurai sword.The killing happened three days after police said alleged gang member Luis Guzman, 17, shot Rodolfo Moreno Jr., 25. Guzman under investigated for second-degree attempted murder and first-degree assault.
The violence has roiled the normally quiet city of 81,000 about 25 miles north of Denver. Investigators said seven men were responsible for the fatal attack on Martin Garcia 17. Police said at least one suspect belonged to a gang and Garcia may have had ties to a rival gang. But Garcia's friends and family said he wasn't a gang member. Garcia's wife, Martha, said he loved to play with their son and wanted to open his own auto body shop.Adam Le Mizones, 21, is being held on suspicion of second-degree murder and assault and Oscar Lozano, 17, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault in the attack on Garcia. Two other suspects were also arrested, but they were not identified. Investigators have identified several other suspects but they haven't been arrested.
