Bear Shot, Poacher Sought

Bear Killed In Woodland Park Subdivision

Wildlife officials asking for help finding the person who shot and killed a 2-year-old black bear Wednesday in the Forest Edge subdivision of Woodland Park.

Albert Romero, district wildlife manager for the Colorado Division of Wildlife, said that he hopes a passing motorist or someone in the neighborhood will have information about the illegal shooting.

"Anyone who comes forward with information is eligible for a cash reward from the Division of Wildlife's Operation Game Thief fund," Romero said.

The poacher could face charges of taking big game, hunting out of season, waste of wildlife meat and willful destruction of wildlife.
