Gang-Related Stabbing In Longmont Claims 1 Life

LONGMONT, Colo. -- Longmont police are investigating the stabbing death of a 17-year-old male in the 200 block of 21st Avenue.Police were called to the scene just after 6:30 p.m. Saturday.A preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was confronted and assaulted by a group of Hispanic males on the street as he got out of his car.
Witnesses said the group of men hit the victim with baseball bats and other club type instruments before stabbing him in the abdomen with a large knife.The suspects are described as Hispanic males in their late teens to mid-20s.They used two cars to escape the scene, police said. One is described as a 1990s model Cadillac Deville, gray or green in color. The second is a 1990s model Mercury Marqui which is gray or silver in color.Longmont police said this was a gang-related assult and was carried out by the Longmont Nortenos.No arrests have been made, but detectives are working several leads.
