Human Head Discovery Remains A Mystery
Authorities Searching For BodyAfter Gruesome Find
BRIGHTON, Colo. -- Authorities have a head, but no body.
Anglers found the human head floating in a drainage pond in unincorporated Adams County Saturday, and investigators were treating the case as a homicide.
No other body parts were found. Investigators hoped to use
dental records to identify the person, said sheriff's Capt. Fred
Stoll.
Investigators didn't know if the head belonged to a man or a woman, but did say that the person had been dead for some time.
Storm water drains into the pond from miles away. The anglers
made the discovery after the fifth straight day of heavy rains in
the Denver area.
"I think they were fairly well freaked out," Stoll said.
"What makes this different is that the pond is fed by Little Dry Creek, which is just north of there," said Adams County Sheriff's Sgt. Mark Alberti. "Whether the head came downstream or not, we don't know."
