Transient Arrested In Teen Sex Assault

Suspect Has Extensive Criminal History, Authorities Report

A transient with an long criminal history was being held in Boulder on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl.

Gregory Vickery, 30 (pictured, left), was arrested Sunday on suspicion of child sexual assault by force or threats, a third-degree felony. He was being held Tuesday at the Boulder County jail under a $100,000 bond.

Vickery allegedly grabbed the girl Sunday morning at the entrance to her friend's apartment in south Boulder. He fondled her forcefully, according to a police report.

A friend of the girl's mother spotted the distubance with Vickery and the girl. He ran from the apartment complex, according to the report.

The friend called police to report the attack. A few hours later, police found Vickery sitting in front of a Boulder grocery store. The woman and the girl identified Vickery from a patrol car, and he was arrested.

Vickery has been arrested 15 times since 1995, according to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. Ten of the arrests were in Boulder County, including four on the University of Colorado campus. The other five arrests were in Thornton.

He has been arrested in the past on suspicion of charges including child sexual assault, sexual assault, indecent exposure, and failure to register as a sex offender.

Vickery has outstanding warrants from Denver and Aurora, according to the CBI.
