Mark Baertschy Volunteers With Boulder County Partners, Broadway Shelter

A 35-year-old man who volunteers with a Boulder County youth mentoring program and a youth shelter has been arrested for investigation of sexual assault on a child, deputies said Wednesday.A 14-year-old boy told investigators that Mark Baertsch engaged in a pattern of "progressively more intrusive consensual sexual contacts" with him over the course of the past two years.Police are concerned that there may be other victims since Baertschy volunteered with Boulder County Partners and the Broadway Youth Shelter and may have had contact with other youths through the programs.
Both agencies are cooperating with sheriff’s investigators. Deputies are asking other possible victims to come forward.Anyone with information to offer is asked to contact Detective Carolyn Roberts at (303) 441-3641.Baertschy was taken into custody last Friday, at his home in Gunbarrel. He is currently free on a $25,000 bond. Baertschy faces four to 12 years in prison if he is convicted.Investigators are refusing to release other details to protect the identity of the victim and to preserve the integrity of the investigation.Additional Resources:
