No ID On Infant's Body Found Buried
Authorities Seek Sophisticated Lab Test In Effort To Identify Baby Boy
HAXTUN, Colo. -- Authorities are conducting a DNA test on the body of a baby found buried two weeks ago on a farm in northeastern Colorado.
The Philips County sheriff's department said that the test could help them find out the identity of the baby's parents.
The premature infant boy was found buried in a creek bank on a farm southeast of Haxtun. The owner of the farm is not a suspect, authorities said.
An initial autopsy report indicated that the baby was 6 to 7 months old, or 2 to 3 months from full term. The child had been buried for 6 to 18 months, officials said.
It is unknown if the baby was alive when it was born, according to officials.
The sheriff's department began searching for the baby after receiving a tip in April. The tip came from a man who told police that he had a relationship with the baby's mother.
Authorities said that they are attempting to locate the woman.
