Dogs Die From Eating Poisoned Meat
EPA Issues Warning To Strasburg Man Trying To Kill Coyotes

STRASBURG, Colo. -- At least five dogs have died in Adams County from eating herbicide-laced meat, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said Friday.Dan Bowen, of Strasburg, was issued a warning notice by the EPA for misuse of Paraquat Plus, a herbicide used to kill coyotes.According to the EPA, Bowen allegedly soaked meat in the poison and placed the meat on nearby property near 56th Avenue and Headlight Road.
In addition to the five dogs that died as a result of eating the meat, other dogs have ingested it and two were currently undergoing treatment for paraquat poisoning, the EPA said.Two of the dogs that died were owned by veterinarians.The Adams County Sheriff's Office and Colorado Department of Wildlife are also investigating the meat poisoning."We are asking that you keep your animals on leashes and don’t let them roam free," said Sheriff Douglas N. Darr "If anyone sees dead carcasses or meat lying on the ground, don’t touch or allow animals to eat it. Call 911 immediately."Paraquat Plus is a restricted-use pesticide and is high toxic. It is used to kill weeds and grasses.
