THORNTON, Colo. -- Remember when your parents would say, "A little hard work never hurt anyone"? 7Everyday Hero Tony Alcarez is proof it's true.

Alcarez has volunteered at The International School at Thornton Middle for a long time.

"Since 1993," Alcarez said.

That is 25 years of volunteering to help keep the school in tip-top shape.

"I go through all the hallways and clean up the hallways and bathrooms," Alcarez said.

"He's a miracle worker. I really, really appreciate his help," said Keith Lauer, head custodian at The International School.

Alcarez is right there at the lunch period too. It's a room filled with polite, but very energetic middle school students.

But the volume level doesn't bother Alcarez.

"It gets me out of the house. Keeps me busy. And I enjoy the kids too, sometimes," laughed Alcarez.

After serving with the U.S. Coast Guard, raising a family, and a working a lifetime, Alcarez stills works hard serving others.

He just turned 90 years young.

"I still have to show my I.D.," joked Alcarez.

"90?! There's no way you could be 90! Because he moves so good," Lauer said.

Tony Alcarez gives his time at the school one week every month. And he does so with a smile on his face.
