DENVER -- 7Everyday Hero Jessica Riggs is helping Coloradans find a song in their heart.

"The name of the group is Life/Art Dance Ensemble. I think dance is a very universal method of communication," Riggs said.

And no where is that more apparent than when the Life/Art Dance Ensemble performs at area senior housing centers.

"It is incredible. It's one of my favorite things to do," said Higgins Plaza resident Mary Halpin.

"We bring free, professional dance and music performances to seniors in subsidized housing," Riggs said.

Riggs founded the group in 2009.

"It is about socialization and the intergenerational connections too," Riggs said.

"We often try to incorporate dance moves that the seniors will recognize from earlier in their life," said Mary Overton, Life/Art Dance Ensemble dancer.

Just about every month the Life/Art Dance Ensemble visits a low-income housing facility, like Denver's Higgins Plaza.

It is live, professional entertainment all done for free.

"I loved it. I love it every time they come. I think it's because I can't move the same way I used to and I love to dance! It's like I'm imagining myself moving and dancing. I love it," Halpin said.

"When you live in a senior place sometimes there's not much going on so it really picks up your morning," said Phil, a Higgins Plaza resident.

"It was was wonderful! Those girls were good," said Elizabeth, a Higgins Plaza resident.

The key to the group's success is their love for dance and Jessica Rigg's desire to serve others.

"She saw a need for more interaction with the senior community and being able to give them art in their life and she filled it," Overton said.
