Report: Woman In Missing Child Case Jailed

Shelley Lowe Jailed Over Traffic Charges

POSTED: 5:00 am MST March 14, 2006

The woman listed by police as a "person of interest" in the disappearance of an Aurora girl was in jail Monday on traffic-related charges, according to a story in The Denver Post.

Shelley Marie Lowe, 33, was booked into the Denver County Jail on March 7, the newspaper report. She was jailed after failing to appear in court on a traffic charge, according to the sheriff's office.

Lowe was living with Aaron Thompson in Aurora, Colo., when Aaron's daughter, Aarone, was reported missing last fall. Aurora police said the 6-year-old was murdered, and said she hadn't been seen for almost two years and wasn't enrolled in school. Lowe and Thompson maintain she ran away last November.

No one has been charged in the case and the Aurora police investigation was continuing. Both Lowe and Thompson are considered "persons of interest" in the case, according to police.

The jail sentence in Denver had nothing to do with Aarone's disappearance. The Post reported that Lowe has had several run-ins with authorities over traffic violations. She served 10 days in jail for previous cases in 2000.
