What do you think of this environmentalist tactic?
The man, identified only as Drew, said that he puts bumper stickers with the words "I Don't Care About The Air!" on parked SUVs.
This practice is a growing trend, both locally and nationally, 7NEWS reporter Hendrik Sybrandy said.
"Basically, it's labeling cars with owners that I believe really don't care about the air, because they've gone and spent a couple thousand dollars on something that pollutes more and is less fuel efficient than other cars," Drew said.
"We'll do it any day of the week, during the day or in the evening. It's sort of liberating. It feels good to speak my mind," he said.
The message is lost on many motorists, though.
"It's kind of like defacing someone's property, to be honest about it. It's not going to change my thinking about anything like that," one Boulder motorist, whose SUV had a sticker on it, said.
"Well, actually they are defacing, in a way, the air -- and it's my air as well as anybody else's, so it's kind of tit-for-tat," Drew said.
Boulder police said that what Drew is doing is not a crime, but they discourage anyone from doing it, Sybrandy said.
Drew told 7NEWS that he's been yelled at and had arguments with motorists, but he said that he is a fast runner and has been able to get away from some confrontations.
He said that he plans to continue putting stickers on SUVs.
