Agents who expected to find drugs at a home on the 12000 block of Columbine Street uncovered an entire meth lab instead when they raided the house at about 10 a.m.
"We found a drug lab, where the street value of the methamphetamine we found is about $1,000 per ounce," Thornton police Lt. Lori Moriarty told 7NEWS.
William Grisdale, 44, Kim Almy, 46, and Virginia Lathrap, 21, were arrested on various drug charges and taken to the Adams County jail.
Residents of the quiet neighborhood were shocked to learn that the people whom they knew so well could produce something so deadly.
"It's bizarre," neighbor Dennis Kelly said. "I never had any idea that anything like that was going on there. I'm glad that they got it out of the subdivision. This is a real nice neighborhood."
Moriarty said that increasingly, meth labs are being discovered in residential neighborhoods.
"This makes it the 27th meth bust we made this year alone," Moriarty said.
