'Dumpster Baby' Mom Pleads Guilty
Jail Sentence And Probation Part Of Sentencing Agreement
The mother charged with abandoning her newborn near a trash dumpster last March pleaded guilty Friday to misdemeanor child abuse.
Lisa Levantino, 23, entered her plea in Denver District Court as part of a sentencing agreement. As part of the agreement Levantino will spend 10 days in jail, but will get to see her baby while serviing the sentence.
She will also be put on probation for two years and will have to attend parenting classes and drug abuse classes. Prosecutors said that Levantino had asked to start her jail sentence as soon as possible.
Formal sentencing was set for June 18.
