April 25, 2001: Columbine Editorial
This a Denver's 7 Editorial from Cindy Velasquez, Vice Preseident & General Manager KMGH-TV. Denver's 7 Editorials tackle issues important to Colorado's working families.
It's been two years since the tragedy at Columbine High School.
And, Jefferson County authorities have still not disclosed all of the facts.
Warrants, reports, interviews and new details have now been released. But it took lawsuits to get them. Mysterious "missing pages" of reports have also now been found.
And the Jefferson County Sheriff refuses to comment, because of concerns about lawsuits.
And still... There are no substantial and complete reports, that are now long overdue!
We don't know if anything was done wrong, or if the tragedy could have been prevented. We still don't know if it could happen again.
Denver's 7 calls on Jefferson County D.A. Dave Thomas to convene a grand jury. Because only a grand jury can force everyone involved to finally tell the whole truth. To let us know if mistakes have been corrected... And, if our children are safe.
