Drug Bust Nets 22 Arrests In Jefferson County
Age Of Suspects Is Concern, Authorities Say
Authorities announced a major drug bust in Jefferson County on Monday.
Following a six-month undercover investigation, 22 people suspected of selling cocaine and methamphetamine in southern Jefferson County were arrested.
Investigators used a chart to show how the suspects are loosely associated with each other.
Authorities said that the suspects' ages were particularly alarming.
"Fifty percent of (the suspects) are 21 years or younger, and what concerns us the most is their circle of influence -- the people that they are around, and the impact that they can have," Jeff Shrader, division chief with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department, said.
The investigation continues and more arrests are expected.
