Father Of Abandoned Baby Talking To Social Services
Mother Also Wants Custody, Despite Child Abuse Charge
The father of a baby found behind a Chinese restaurant last week has been in contact
with the city human services division.

The man, whose name and hometown were not released, called the
department twice after receiving a certified letter notifying him
of his parental rights, Donna Good, deputy director of the agency,
said Thursday. Good said that a case worker will be getting in
touch with him.
Lisa Levatino, 23, of Portland Maine, has been charged with
misdemeanor child abuse after allegedly leaving the infant under a
trash bin behind a Chinese restaurant on March 8. The baby was less
than a week old.
Levantino faces up to 12 months in prison and a $1,000 fine if
convicted. Her next court date is April 9.
Levatino has expressed an interest in regaining custody of her
son, who is in foster care. A woman who answered Levatino's phone
and door Thursday said Levatino did not want to talk.
