Racist Flyers Distributed At CU Boulder

Police Look For Information On Source

POSTED: 12:48 pm MST November 21, 2005

The University of Colorado said that flyers with racist messages were distributed on the Boulder campus Sunday.

The flyers were discovered by a librarian in Norlin Library, where they were posted on office doors, slid under office doors and left on library shelves. Some were also found under doors in the Ketchum Arts and Sciences Building, the school said in a statement issued on Monday.

The flyers were "apparently the work of a national organization called National Vanguard as noted on the flyers," the statement said.

National Vanguard's Web site says it distributes flyers at various locations. It has a Denver operation, according to its Web site.

"We deplore the racist content of the flyers, which were removed immediately," a university statement said. An investigation is under way by the campus police department.

The discovery comes less than a week after a CU student leader said she was the target of a racist death threat e-mailed to her. Police have not found the personal responsible for that incident.

Anyone with information about either case was asked to call campus police at (303) 492-8168.
