Pueblo Mother Of Abandoned Baby Given Jail Time
Woman First Told Authorities She Found Baby In Field
A Pueblo mother who tried to pass off her
newborn as an abandoned baby has been ordered to spend 30 days in jail and remain
on probation for four years.
Authorities said 25-year-old Jill Willis agreed to a plea
agreement during a hearing in Pueblo County Court Monday.
She had been charged with misdemeanor child abuse and false
reporting to sheriff's deputies.
She touched off a major investigation last October when she told
deputies that she had found an abandoned baby in a field. She later
acknowledged that the month-old baby, named "Baby Grace" by hospital workers, was hers.
