Funeral Set For Westminster Marine Killed In Iraq
Tamburello Will Be Buried At Fort Logan

WESTMINSTER, Colo. -- A young Marine from Westminster will be buried Thursday.Lance Cpl. Jeremy Tamburello, 19, was killed in Iraq on Nov. 8 when a roadside bomb detonated next to his light-armored vehicle during combat operations in the Rutbah region, near the Syrian border.He will be laid to rest with honors at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
Tamburello joined the Marines after graduating from Ranum High School in 2004.Kevin Tamburello said he last spoke to his son on the phone during Halloween."He was doing good. He was doing fine. And then all of a sudden, now this. He's dead," said Tamburello.Tamburello said he does not support the war but always supported his son."He shouldn't have went over there. It shouldn't have happened. It's not what we want. My son died over something that shouldn't happen ... I regret that and I'm sure he does too," he said.Tamburello was a member of 1st Light Armor Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force.On Wednesday, five Marines were killed and 11 were wounded while they searched a house in western Anbar province.Those deaths brought to 2,079 the number of U.S. service members who have died since the war began in 2003, according to an Associated Press count.
