Pit Bulls Attack Two Teens

Neither Teen Seriously Injured

UPDATED: 8:18 am MST November 14, 2005

Five pit bulls who authorities say attacked two teenagers are being held at the Pikes Peak Region Humane Society, pending an investigation.

El Paso County Sheriff's Lieutenant Clif Northam said the teens, a boy and a girl, suffered bites on their arms during the attack near Hanover Saturday. Both were treated at home.

Northam, who did not identify the owner of the dogs, said the owner will be charged with ownership of dangerous dogs if it is determined the animals were running loose and attacked without provocation.

Hanover is southeast of Colorado Springs.

Currently, Aurora, Denver, Commerce City, Castle Rock, Wiggins, Wellington and Fort Lupton all have pit bull bans.

Estes Park and Federal Heights are considering similar bans.
