DENVER -- West Vancouver police in Canada have found a 20-year-old man who doesn't seem to remember who he is, other that that he's from Colorado.Police said they know who he is and that he's from Littleton, but they have not released his name because the man is in the hospital and there are privacy concerns. However there are still a lot of unanswered questions such as how the man ended up in Canada or how he lost his memory.
"He's still being treated there so hopefully staff members at the hospital will be able to diagnose what caused him to have a memory loss," said Vancouver police.Sgt. Paul Skelton.Police say he was carrying a hockey bag but had no wallet or identification on him when walked into a West Vancouver church in British Columbia asking for help."He walked into the church about 9:30 Sunday morning, approached the minister of the church and said, 'I have no idea who I am,'" Skelton said.Investigators were able to track down the man to a home in Arapahoe County. His roommate told the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office that the man had left last Wednesday. The roommate said the man had boarded a train heading to Sacramento and then he was going to head to Alaska for a possible job.The roommate said that years ago the man suffered a head injury in a crash and investigators suspect that a recent injury may have triggered the memory loss."The goalie equipment was wet so that may indicate that he played in a pick up hockey game some where in his travels," said Skelton. The identity of this so called mystery man became a huge news story in Vancouver. A customs agent recalled dealing with him at the border and provided enough details to come up with an identification. Police call it a lucky break."Had that agent, not been watching the news that night, i suspect this person could still be considered a John Doe," Skelton said. And there are many other questions. Police don't know what happened to this man's drivers license or passport. He also told investigators about a woman who had dropped him off at the border after she told him she could no longer take care of him. That story conflicts with what the customs agent saw so there is a alot still to be figured out.Police describe the man as 6-foot 2-inches tall, 174 pounds, with blue eyes and brown curly hair. He was wearing jeans and a dark grey hooded sweatshirt with "Burton Snowboard" written on it and a baseball cap with the Burton logo.
