Former Montessori Founder Heads To California For Treatment
'History Of Family Suicide' Cited In Request To Leave Colorado
A judge in Boulder will allow the former director of a Montessori school accused of sexual assault to check into a California psychiatric hospital for treatment.
Don Alan Temple, 53, is charged with molesting three girls at
the Mountain Shadows Montessori school in Boulder. His attorney said that he needs to seek help because of his family's history of suicide.
Temple surrendered to authorities Feb 10 after a warrant was issued for his arrest in connection with alleged sexual assaults on two students and one former student at the Boulder school.
At the Monday hearing, Judge David Archuleta also upheld a
ruling that Temple may not have contact with his 14-year-old
daughter, though there are no allegations that he abused her.
Temple surrendered to authorities Feb. 10. He was released on
$50,000 bail but ordered to stay away from anyone younger than 18.
Whelan said Temple would check into the hospital for a 28-day
stay and return in May to enter pleas in the charges. He refused to
detail the history of suicide in Temple's family.
Temple is charged with 10 counts of attempted sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust. The charges involve two students and one former student.
