DENVER -- Denver voters are deciding Tuesday whether to dramatically change how teachers are paid in their school district.A ballot measure asks voters to approve a $25 million annual tax hike for the Professional Compensation System, or ProComp, in Denver Public Schools.ProComp would -- among other things -- link salary to student achievement and professional evaluations rather than years of service and a teacher's education level.
Supporters say the program would help attract and retain good teachers and improve student performance by rewarding educators for meeting achievement goals. Opponents say it would add nothing but bureaucracy and subjectivity to how teachers are paid and do little to actually help students.Watch 7NEWS At 5 p.m. for more on this story.Additional Resources:
