Three young men died in a single car crash near Bellview, north of Fort Collins late Saturday night and investigators said high speed, and alcohol or drugs were suspected as factors in the accident.

The Colorado State Patrol said troopers found the wreckage of the car on Larimer County Road 23 at about 11:50 p.m. The bodies of three people were found at the wreckage.

According to accident investigators, the 1993 Ford Mustang appeared to have been traveling in excess of 100 mph when it hit several trees, tearing into three pieces.

Those killed in the crash were identified Sunday as Christopher Ragan, 19; Derek Jones, 20; and Jacob Ricke, 20. They were all from Fort Collins.

Investigators said all three were thrown from the car and the car was in such bad shape that they were not able to determine if seat belts were in use. They also couldn't tell who was driving.

It was not immediately known if the three were students at Colorado State University.
