Ex-High School Coach Pleads Guilty In Sex Case
Former Machebeuf Coach Has Day In Court

DENVER -- A former teacher and basketball coach at a Catholic high school in Denver pleaded guilty Tuesday to sexually assaulting a female player.Craig DeBaise, 43, had been charged with seven counts of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust and was accused of sexually assaulting two female players at Machebeuf High School, but reached a plea bargain with prosecutors.DeBaise, instead, pleaded guilty to only one count of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust.
Prosecutors accused DeBiase of having sex with a 16-year-old girl on a summer basketball team multiple times in 1999. They also said he had sex with a 17-year-old girl in 2000.DeBaise will be sentence on Dec. 20 and faces two years to life in prison, but also could be put on probation as part of his sentence.
