Silvia Johnson was booked into the Jefferson County jail following her release from the hospital.

'Cool Mom' Arrested Again

Silvia Johnson Faces New Charges Stemming From Auto Accident

POSTED: 3:15 pm MDT October 7, 2005

Silvia Johnson, the so-called "cool mom" who was originally charged with sexual assault and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, was served with an arrest warrant Thursday upon her release from a hospital.

Johnson was undergoing treatment at Swedish Medical Center for serious injuries suffered in a Sept. 25 rollover accident in which an underage teen was allegedly driving.

After Johnson failed to appear for a court hearing Thursday, deputies went to her hospital room and stayed with her until she was released Friday morning.

She was then taken into custody and transported to the Jefferson County Detention Facility. She's was ordered held under the $550,000 bond that was increased Thursday from the original $1,000 bond.

Under terms of the original bond, Johnson was barred from having contact with children.

Johnson's booking photo taken Friday shows her wearing some type of body brace, apparently as a result of injuries she suffered in the rollover accident. Her lawyer said she had been in intensive care after the accident.

The mishap occurred the day before Johnson was scheduled to appear for sentencing in Jefferson County court on the original charges. Johnson had admitted having sex with five male high school students at her home because she wanted to be known as a "cool mom."

According to the Colorado State Patrol, Johnson was riding in a sport utility vehicle with four children on Interstate 25 in Douglas County when the 14-year-old driver lost control and rolled the vehicle. The only person in the vehicle who was legally able to drive was Johnson, troopers said.

Investigators later found a marijuana pipe among Johnson's possessions at the hospital following the accident, according to her arrest affidavit.

She will be advised of the new charges pending against her on Oct. 11. Her resentencing on the original charges will be held Nov. 14.
