UPDATED: 11:49 am MDT September 29, 2005

Police in Westminster were looking for a 15-year-old boy accused of locking his father in the basement of their home and then trying to burn the home down.

The father got out of the home unharmed and called 911. He then went back into the house to rescue three dogs.

When firefighters arrived, they were able to quickly extinguish the fire in the 8000 block of Clay Drive. There was no visible fire damage from the outside of the home.

The boy apparently left the home and was not seen until he was arrested later that night. He was arrested for investigation of attempted murder and arson, police said.

The fire was reported just around 3 p.m., 7News reported.
