STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. -- A well-known Steamboat Springs teenager died in her sleep over the weekend and officials hope an autopsy will provide clues about her sudden death.Adel Dombrowski, 17, attended a football game in Craig, Colo, and eventually ended up at home in bed. Investigators were trying to determine what she did in the final hours of her life.The popular Steamboat Springs High School senior was active in tennis, hockey and volleyball at her school.
She also sang in the high school choir, played the flute, and danced.News of her death stunned her fellow students, who gathered at her home Sunday.She apparently didn't indicate any health problems Friday night and no one noticed anything amiss early Saturday morning.A friend came to pick her up for tennis practice at about 10:30 a.m. Saturday and found her dead in her bed. Her mother told the Steamboat Springs Pilot newspaper that it was apparent she had been dead for some time.An autopsy was scheduled Monday and it's hoped it would shed some light on what killed her.Funeral services were scheduled for 2 p.m Friday in the Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel.
