LONGMONT, Colo. -- Police and federal agents are looking for a safety-conscious bank robber on a budget in Longmont.According to police, the man threatens tellers with a knife instead of a gun and makes his getaway on a bicycle instead of in a vehicle. He also wears his bicycle helmet into the bank. The same man is believed responsible for two robberies at the Commercial Federal Bank on Fifth Avenue -- the latest robbery happening Monday. The bank was also robbed on Aug. 3 and authorities believe the same man is responsible for that robbery.
Bank employees described the robber as being between 30 and 35 years of age, between 5 feet 8 inches and 6 feet tall, with a medium build and dark hair. He was wearing a pink polo shirt, tan cargo shorts, tennis shoes, a black Bell bicycle helmet and sunglasses.Police said he walked into the bank just before 5 p.m., showed his small knife and demanded money. After getting an undisclosed amount of money, he left the bank and hopped on his bicycle, which was described as an older model, possibly a Schwinn.
