DENVER -- A Texas grand jury in has indicted a constable on child porn charges after he allegedly solicited sex from an 8-year-old girl in Colorado.

Denton County Constable Larry Dale Floyd, 61, was arrested July 28 in Canon City, Colo., after police said he made plans via e-mail to meet the underage girl, but had unwittingly contacted an undercover officer who was posing as the girl's mother. He was arrested in Canon City while going to meet the "girl," police said.

Following his Colorado arrest, authorities in Texas searched his computers and said they found more than 10 images of suspected child pornography on computer equipment seized from his home. They also found he used his computer at work to conduct a reverse look-up of the Colorado phone number he was given by the undercover officer and to look up lodging in Canon City.

On Thursday, a Denton County grand jury indicted Floyd on three counts of possession of child pornography, a third-degree felony. Bond was set at $300,000. Denton County is north of the Dallas-Ft. Worth area.

Floyd remains in Fremont County Jail in Colorado on $400,000 cash-only bail, Canon City Detective Doug Havens said. On Aug. 18, he was formally charged with one count of soliciting child prostitution, three counts of enticement of a child and three counts of attempted sexual assault on a child.

On Tuesday, Floyd’s wife of 22 years, filed for divorce.

Meanwhile, the district attorney in Denton County has filed a petition to have Floyd suspended without pay pending his trial. He has still been receiving his $60,000 a year pay, even after his arrest, county officials said. Floyd has held the office in Denton County since 1992.
