CA ÑON CITY, Colo. -- A Texas constable is being held on $100,000 bond after allegedly crossing state lines to have sex with a child. Cañon City police arrested Larry Dale Floyd, 62, near a local restaurant Thursday.
The Cañon City Police Department Internet Crimes Against Children Unit said Floyd was seeking a child to meet for sexual relations, when he unknowingly contacted an undercover officer in June. Floyd was booked into the Fremont County Jail on suspicion of criminal solicitation, solicitation of child prostitution, enticement of a child, sexual assault on a child, pandering, inducement of child prostitution, and trafficking in children. The sexual assault on a child charge was based on a suspicion that Floyd committed that crime, a Fremont County spokesman said.According to the Denton County Web site page on Floyd, he is married, the father of three children and has one grandchild. Floyd has been an elected constable in Denton County, Texas Precinct 2 since 1993. He covers a subdivision called The Colony, just north of the Dallas area."I am shocked and disappointed that he would do something like that," Jim Dotson, another Denton County constable, told The Dallas Morning News. "If they have a case against him, I'd say prosecute to the fullest, regardless of who it is." According to Floyd's biography the Web site, he held various Texas law enforcement positions during the past three decades, and is a Vietnam war veteran.
