AURORA, Colo. -- People in Aurora and Denver will soon see signs turning up at bus benches asking for their help to solve the recent murders of two college sweethearts.
The families of Javad Marshall-Fields and Vivian Wolfe want to know who gunned the two down in their car exactly one month ago Wednesday. The recent Colorado State University graduates, both 22, were killed in a hail of gunfire while they sat at an Aurora intersection. Their car was shot at least 12 times.
The case remains unsolved.Marshall-Fields was scheduled to testify in a murder trial just days after he and his fiancée were ambushed. His family said that he had been threatened and was nervous about testifying, but police said that they were not aware of the threats.Police detectives have made progress in the case but that is all they are saying, so the families of the couple bought advertising space on 25 bus benches in Aurora and Denver. Each ad will feature a picture of the engaged couple and a telephone number for Crime Stoppers. The first sign appears Thursday at the Sable and Alameda intersection in Aurora and the rest of the signs will appear next month. After burying the couple last month, the families also planned a citywide prayer vigil Thursday evening. The vigil will be held at the intersection of Dayton Street and Idaho Avenue where the two were killed. The families hope to keep the story in the public eye.Anyone who has information leading to the arrest of the killer or killers will be eligible for the Crime Stoppers reward, which stands at $10,000.The district attorney's office said it will offer witness protection to anyone who comes forward with information about the shooting.Anyone with information regarding the case is asked to call Aurora Police Department at (303) 739-6013 or Crime Stoppers at (720) 913-STOP (7867).
