Police Arrest Suspected Accomplice In 'Kidnapping'

EAGLE, Colo. -- The wife of a Vail man who allegedly faked his own kidnapping earlier this month has filed for divorce."Of course she's filing for divorce," her attorney, Dave Lugert, told the Vail Daily News. "This is a swift, understandable and much-needed response to a horrific crime perpetrated against her."Michael Sean Moore is charged with false imprisonment, aggravated robbery, menacing, theft, domestic violence and false reporting to authorities.
The woman's name is being withheld because she is the alleged victim of domestic violence.Police said Moore and two accomplices faked his disappearance on May 12. The abductors allegedly ordered the man to bind his wife's hands and ankles with duct tape. Moore also allegedly took his wife's ATM card and got $400 from her account.Moore was found in Avon two days later at a friend's house. Police also found a receipt for duct tape in Moore's work pants. It was time stamped several hours before Moore's wife was bound with duct tape. Police also found an unloaded .22-caliber pistol in a backpack in Moore's closet. The gun matched the description of the gun given by Moore's wife that was used in the alleged abduction.Police also announced the arrest of in the alleged kidnapping hoax.Michael George Malovic, a 48-year-old Vail resident, was arrested Friday night on suspicion of helping Moore stage his own abduction.
