A ban on "for sale" signs in cars in Arvada has prompted a federal lawsuit.Tom Wambolt said the sign ban is a violation of his first amendment. He argues that a federal court in California struck down a similar ban."All I want to do is sell my truck, and the city won't let me do it. I don't think I'm asking too much," Wambolt said.
He argues that Arvada's ban on allowing people to put "for sale" signs on their parked cars disproportionately harms lower-income residents.Wambolt's attorney wants the ban immediately lifted."Preliminary relief is warranted because every day this ban continues, Arvada citizens are losing their free speech," said Wambolt's lawyer, Robert J. Corry Jr.Wambolt is a community activist who spearheaded the effort to save Arvada's Columbine Lake from being paved over for a Wal-Mart.A preliminary hearing on his motion will be held Thursday.
