Phone Cable Repaired In Arvada

Repairs Won't Be Completed Until Late Tuesday Night, Qwest Said

Repairs continued Tuesday night after about 1200 homes in Arvada lost phone service on Monday when a work crew accidentally cut a phone cable.

Qwest reported that 900 of the 1200 phone lines had been reconnected Tuesday afternoon. Repairs weren't expected to be complete until late Tuesday night, according to Qwest.

Service was lost around noon Monday after a contractor working for the city cut a 900-pair phone line, according to Qwest. The city is involved in a road-widening project at the site at the intersection of 74th Avenue and Kipling Street.

Arvada city officials said that the contractor did have the site surveyed by a utility locating service before digging began. Two Qwest cables were identified, but the one large cable that was cut was missed in the survey, according to the officials.
