A 35-year-old Aurora resident is dead, and police don't know who killed him or why.

Officers found David Ray Williams, 35, lying in front of an apartment complex in the 1900 block of Delmar Parkway at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Williams appeared to have been shot at least once in the upper portion of his body, Aurora police spokesman Rudy Herrera said. He was transported to an area hospital, where he died as a result of his injury.

Based on the most recent evidence, investigators said they have reason to believe that Williams was the intended target of the shooting.

Investigators said Williams lived in the complex where he was found.

Anyone with information about the incident is being asked to call (303) 739-6079.
