An Evans, Colo.., man who took his car to the dealership for repairs found himself arrested three months later, accused of impersonating a police officer.At the beginning of the year, John Miks, 31, brought his 2002 Madza Tribute to a dealership in Fort Collins to fix the wiring system, the Colorado State Patrol said. However, a mechanic working on the car became suspicious when he discovered that the vehicle was equipped with red and blue flashing lights and strobe lighting similar to that of a police car.
He tipped the CSP, who began gathering evidence in January. Investigators discovered that Miks is known to carry a handgun and after a three-month investigation, they obtained a search warrant for Miks' home.Troopers searched Miks; home on Monday and he was arrested at that time without incident. The CSP did not say what items were found in Miks' home.Miks is being held at the Larimer County Detention Center on charges of impersonating a police officer, criminal impersonation and owning a vehicle with unauthorized red and blue lights.
