The FBI and police in Vail are searching for two men involved in a bank robbery that occurred at the WestStar Bank in Vail Village Monday morning.

Witnesses told police that two men, wearing black ski masks and brandishing semiautomatic weapons, entered the bank just after the branch opened at 10 a.m. After separating the two female employees inside the bank, the robbers entered a vault and fled with an undisclosed amount of money stuffed in a bag, police said.

No one else was inside the bank during the hold up. No injuries were reported.

The men were last seen running up a set of stairs toward Hanson Ranch Road.

Both men were white and had distinct accents, possibly Australian or European, police said.

The first robber is approximately 6 feet tall, wearing a light, silver or gray jacket with a dark emblem on the left sleeve. The jacket had the words "Valley Electric" on it, police said. He was also wearing a badge with the name "Dave" on it and a backpack.

The second robber is about 5 feet 8 inches tall and was wearing a dark, blue or black hooded sweatshirt.

Both men were possibly wearing black snowboard boots and dark colored pants, police said.

Officers from the Vail, Avon and Minturn police departments responded to the incident, as well as officers from the Eagle County Sheriff's Office and the Colorado State Patrol.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Vail Police at (970) 479-2201.

The last bank robbery in Vail occurred on Dec. 4, 2001, when the WestStar Bank branch at 2111 N. Frontage Rd. was robbed of approximately $20,000, city officials said. Charges were later filed against 39-year-old William David Jennings, who was arrested in Park City, Utah, in April 2002 in conjunction with another robbery there.
