Every week, Denver's 7 boldly stands up for working families by saluting Coloradans who are making a difference in their community.

The 7Everyday Hero Award is presented every Sunday at 10 p.m. by 7NEWS anchor Mitch Jelniker. The segment is repeated the following Monday at 5 a.m., Thursday at 11 a.m., Friday at 4 p.m., Saturdays at 5 p.m. and Sundays at 7 a.m.

The 7Everyday Hero Award is given to Coloradans who initiate solutions, motivate others, represent or serve working families and work on a nonprofit basis.

Nominate Someone You Know

If you want to recognize someone who truly stands out in the community, fill out the nomination form.

Note: The criteria for the 7Everyday Hero Award has been determined by a volunteer committee made up of 7NEWS employees. We will be flexible in selecting nominees, understanding that no one person could fulfill all the criteria. We will also review each nomination on a case-by-case basis.

The 7Everyday Hero Award recipient will be someone who:

• Represents or serves working families
• Initiates or creates solutions
• Motivates others
• Makes sacrifices
• Benefits others
• Makes a difference
• Leads on an ongoing basis
• Is a role model
• Fills a need
• Goes beyond the scope of their job
• Does his/her work on a not-for-profit basis
• Does not profit from a charitable organization
• Solves problems
• Goes above the call of duty
• Successfully follows through
• Sets an example
• Is focused
• Is actively involved

Selection Process:

Please submit only one entry per nominee. Each nomination will be judged on its merits, not on the number of votes or nominations that it gets. We are gratified by the number and caliber of nominations that we have received.

However, because of the high volume of nominations, please allow 7NEWS three to four weeks to process your nomination.

The selection committee meets once a week to thoroughly review and discuss each nomination. If your nominee is selected as a 7Everyday Hero recipient, a 7NEWS employee will contact you by telephone to set up a time to present the award to your nominee(s) on camera.

When necessary, we make preliminary phone calls to obtain additional information or to check a nominee's references. This does not automatically mean that your nominee has been selected.

A new 7Everyday Hero is honored each Friday on 7NEWS at 10 P.M. However, it usually takes several weeks from the time our heroes of the week are selected, to the time their stories are actually aired.

The segments with the selected heroes are aired in the order that they are honored, so keep in mind that there may be several people who are scheduled to air before your nominee.

We realize that it is impossible to honor all of the nominees who are brought to our attention. However, nominees who are not selected will receive letters of appreciation acknowledging the important work that they are doing in the community.

Individuals who submitted nomination forms will also receive a letter informing them of the status of their nominee(s). Please make sure to include correct addresses and phone numbers for yourself and your nominee(s). At times our selection process may be lengthy, so please be patient!
