Serial Bank Robber Linked To 3 Thursday Thefts

FBI Says Man Has Struck 10 Times Since Jan. 1

Three metro area banks were robbed Thursday, and the FBI believes the man responsible has struck at least 10 banks since the first of the year.

The serial robber struck two Commercial Federal Banks on Thursday -- one in Denver and one in Aurora.

Thursday's robberies occurred at a Commercial Federal bank in Aurora, another Commercial Federal bank in Denver and a Bank One in Greenwood Village, 7NEWS reported.

In each case, the robber hands the teller a note demanding money. When the robber leaves the bank, he changes clothes immediately afterward, said FBI spokesman Carl Schlaff.

Schlaff said the serial robber does not brandish a weapon.

Authorities don't have a good description of the man other than that he is white, between the ages of 35 to 45, and has a medium build. He is 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall and wears a baseball cap and glasses.

FBI agents say it is rare for a bank robber to strike three times in one day and is asking for the public's help.

"The public can help us alot because they might recognize who was out of the office today, who came in with a bunch of money. A lot of help comes from the people that know the guy," said FBI agent Jonathan Grusing.

In 2004, Colorado and Wyoming had 150 bank robberies, the FBI said. The state averages about nine to 10 bank robberies a month.

A reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the serial bank robber. Call (303) 629-7171 if you have more information.
