DENVER -- If you're planning to drive west on Interstate 70 through the Georgetown area, it may take you a while longer this week because rock mitigation work is getting underway.Crews with the Colorado Department of Transportation are stopping traffic in both directions for up to 20 minutes several times a day. They'll be clearing rocks that have the potential to fall and create a slide like the massive one in Glenwood Canyon on Thanksgiving Day.
Crews will be working between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and until 1 p.m. on Friday. The work is set to last through next week, but the schedule could change if there's bad weather.
