UPDATED: 12:46 pm MST November 17, 2004

Six schools in the Cherry Creek School District were placed in what is called a "secured perimeter mode" for two hours as a result of a domestic incident off campus.

A spokeswoman for the school district said that schools were not locked down, only that students were not allowed to leave freely. They were released about 11:45 a.m.

Schools involved in the security precaution were Canyon Creek Elementary, Peakview Elementary, Antelope Ridge Elementary, Timberline Elementary, Thunder Ridge Middle, and Eaglecrest High.

The Arapahoe County Sheriff's Department said the incident that prompted the action involved a narby domestic situation in which a man might have been armed, but was not.
