DENVER -- Police are saying a 19-year-old woman killed two men in two days. A woman already facing a first-degree murder charge in the death of a Denver cab driver was charged Thursday in the death of the founder of Colorado Free University.
Authorities say Amber Torrez accompanied John Hand to his Denver apartment in the early morning hours of March 28 and stabbed him to death. The 55-year-old founder of Colorado Free University was found dead in his apartment by a landlord who heard him screaming for help.
Investigators say Torrez's blood was found at the scene and that she used one of his credit cards to buy gasoline at a convenience store after he was killed.She faces first-degree murder, aggravated robbery, forgery and criminal impersonation charges in the case regarding Hand.Torrez was charged last month in the stabbing death of 46-year-old Masfin Gezahgn, who was stabbed on March 29, the day after Hand was killed. Torrez was arrested leaving the scene of 18th and Gilpin, with what appeared to be blood on her at the time officers took her in to custody, police said. Gezahgn's body was found just after 2:45 a.m.Torrez remains in the Denver County Jail without bond.
