POSTED: 10:35 pm MST January 26, 2012
AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. -- Air Force Academy cadets discovered a possible assault and turned in a fellow cadet who is now charged with sexual misconduct. A hearing to that began Thursday is under way for Stephan H. Claxton who is charged with attempted abusive sexual contact, wrongful sexual contact, assault and underage drinking. The Gazette reported a cadet testified that the alleged assault involved a former cadet who was passed out in a dorm on Nov. 4. Cadets testified they found Claxton in a room with the incapacitated, partially undressed woman and reported the incident that night.
The hearing that will determine whether Claxton will be court-martialed continues Friday. Another cadet faces a charge of rape and a third faces a charge of aggravated sexual assault. Academy officials say the three cases are unrelated.
